It has been just over two weeks since the building that formerly housed Rohrbach’s Flowers changed hands, and the new owner says she is adjusting well to her new business venture.
Heidi Schwoerer said she is not new to the industry. In fact, she and her father are quite versed in gardening.
“My dad and I have a half-acre greenhouse in Valders, and we grew for Natural Beauty out of Denmark,” she explained. “Once Shopko went out of business, the Greenhouse sat empty for a couple of years. When we saw the Rohrbach’s is up for sale we thought…we’d give it a try.”
Heidi officially began running the flower shop on March 26th and changed the name of the business to the Rustic Rose, a name that has sentimental value for her.
“My grandma’s name was Rose and we always planted flowers together every spring for as long as I can remember,” she said. “So I named it for her and that I grew up on the farm.”
Heidi said she has kept the business basically the same, much to the delight of Rohrbach’s longtime customers, however, there is a change she is looking to implement in the future.
Heidi said she, “would like to do some painting classes, some flower arranging classes, and do more with the community.”
Heidi said the Rohrbach’s have been incredibly helpful during the transition period.
She also described the past two weeks as “Hectic, crazy, and fun.”
