
The Spring Election is now upon us, and there are a wide variety of items on the ballot.
In Manitowoc, the big race is for the Mayorship, where Incumbent Justin Nickels is facing off against challenger Chris Able.
In the Aldermanic races, those in District 1 will decide between Brett Vanderkin or Theresa Schmitt, whose name will appear despite dropping out of the race last month. In District 2, Chad Beeman is running unopposed, While Michael Cummings squares off with Theresa Collins, who halted campaigning, in District 3. Scott Pelot and Tim Boldt are both vying to represent District 7, While Todd Recklelburg is running unopposed in District 10.
All Manitowoc voters will also choose four individuals they wish to be on the Manitowoc Public School District Board of Education. The individuals on the ballot include Collin Braunel, Rhonda Neumann, Kerry Trask, Stacy Soeldner, Lisa Johnston, Richard Nisch, Aaron Erdmann, and Timothy Reis.
Also on all Manitowoc ballots is the $4.3 million referendum submitted by the School District.
In Two Rivers, those in Wards 7 and 8 will also vote for who they want to join the Manitowoc School District Board, and on the referendum, while also voting for who they want to be on the Two Rivers City Council. There are three people running, and three positions available. The names on the ballot are Curt Andrews, Jeff Dahlke, and Tracey Koach.
Those in Wards 1 through 6 will participate in that race as well as voting for who they want to be the Two Rivers Public School District Commissioner. Zak Peterson and Maria Veldre are running for that position.
The state races on both ballots include a battle for State Superintendent between Jill Underly and Deborah Kerr, and Jeffrey Davis and Shelley Grogan looking to take over as the District 2 Court of Appeals Judges.
It should be noted that all four voting places are open in Two Rivers.
The polls opened at 7:00 AM, and will remain open until 8:00 PM.
