Despite the fact that the conversation surrounding suicide is becoming more of a normal occurrence, many people continue to feel like that is their only way out of a bad situation. For their friends and families, it can be very difficult to hold that discussion, so Prevent Suicide Manitowoc County is looking to help those people.
In partnership with Extension, Manitowoc County, and with the support of Healthiest Manitowoc County, Prevent Suicide will be training 5,000 adults and youth in the County in QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) by 2025.
The one-hour evidence-based training teaches participants how to recognize the warning signs of suicide, teaches how to offer hope, and provides resources to help save a life.
The next training sessions are scheduled for May 26th at the Two Rivers Senior Center from 11:00 to 12:30 PM, and at the Manitowoc Senior Center from 1:00 to 2:30 PM.
You can register by calling the respective Senior Center. In Two Rivers the number is 920-793-5596, and in Manitowoc, it’s 920-686-3060.
