A day after the 53rd anniversary of the death of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr in Memphis Tennessee, a Manitowoc group is preparing to host a “Rally Against Racism” this evening (April 5th).
According to event spokesperson Aaron Bailey, the event aims to bring people together to honor Dr. King’s legacy, “and just really raise awareness and try to collectively put our minds together and start tackling these minute issues that cause racism, especially in small communities like these.”
The event is being hosted by a group of local individuals who put together the MLK Day Manitowoc Facebook group to, as Bailey explained, put together events to help battle injustices.
Baily told Seehafer News, “Any event that we do…we involve that, because that’s what Martin Luther King JR did, peaceful protests, and the education process.”
Bailey said that even though Manitowoc is doing pretty well as far as racism is concerned, “I think even some of the most intelligent people have room to grow.”
They will be gathering at 6:00 PM behind City Hall in Manitowoc, located at 900 Quay Street.
Social distancing and masks will be required.
This event is being billed as being family-friendly.
