
Some significant cost-cutting and the return of football and winter sports are factors in a much-improved financial picture for U-W Athletics.
A-D Barry Alvarez had warned the effects of the coronavirus pandemic could result in the department suffering a $100-million operating shortfall this fiscal year.
In late January those projected losses were reduced by half, then Wednesday came the announcement that the department’s projected shortfall is down to $35-million.
The budget for 2021-and-22 is scheduled to be addressed by the University of Wisconsin athletic board three weeks from today (April 2nd).
