The bodies of both of the canoers that went missing on Lake Winnebago on Monday have been recovered.
Dakota Goldapske and Michael Gohde, both 21-years-old were out on the Lake on Monday amid heavy winds when their canoe capsized.
The Sheriff’s Office and DNR began to search for the men and located Goldapke’s body on Wednesday. A second body was recovered from the lake yesterday afternoon (April 1st) about 150 yards away from where the first body was found.
While the body has not yet been positively identified, it is believed to be that of Gohde.
A statement from the Sheriff’s Office called the location of the bodies “bittersweet”, as they were hoping to find the men alive, but at least the families can have some closure, and a proper burial if they so choose.
