A federal moratorium on the eviction of tenants who have fallen behind on their rent has been extended through the end of June.
The pandemic-related protection was scheduled to expire Wednesday.
The ban provides protection for renters to keep them from being forced into living in shelters or share crowded conditions with relatives or friends.
An estimated 18-percent of all tenants owe some back rent.
That percentage is almost 33-percent among Black tenants.
