The Lakeshore Humane Society is looking for the community’s help to assist in the care and recovery of an injured 8-month-old dog struck by a car earlier this month.
Manitowoc Police called LHS on March 12th stating that a young dog had been struck by a car on County Highway B. The dog ran off and was eventually retrieved in the middle of a field by two staff members and taken straight to a local veterinarian to be examined.
An X-ray revealed one back leg had a snapped ball of the left hip joint and the other was fractured at his growth plates.
Surgery was performed and Culligan-named by LHS staff-is at the Humane Society and doing well but has a long recovery ahead of him. His treatment costs have reached $6,000 and growing.
His owner has yet to come forward to claim him.
