Manitowoc County Health Officer Stephanie Lambert confirms that 500 doses of the Moderna Vaccine and, for the first time, 500 doses of the single-shot Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine will be administered to patients next week.
The Johnson & Johnson vaccines are a single dose vaccine and a second shot is not required. Lambert says some of those shots will be used to reach homebound individuals in partnership with the Aging-Disability and Resource Center.
Due to a scheduling conflict with the Expo Center, next week’s vaccine clinic will be held at the Manitowoc Rec Center. Lambert adds that the Health Department will be giving the two vaccines on separate days. People are welcome to make an appointment for either day and the type of vaccine will be indicated when an individual makes an appointment online at the Manitowoc County Health Department website or by calling 683-4155.
The County has administered almost 36,000 vaccines with slightly more than 29% of County residents having received at least one shot.
