The Milwaukee Brewers are going with Freddy Peralta in their fifth starting rotation spot.
Manager Craig Counsell made the announcement Thursday with only a week to go until Opening Day.
That means Josh Lindblom starts the season in the bullpen. Lindblom, Brent Suter, and Drew Rasmussen have been “stretched out” this spring and any one could become a starter on short notice.
Peralta will face the Minnesota Twins in his first start. He piled up 15 strikeouts in eight-and-a-third innings of Cactus League play, walking just three and giving up one run for an E-R-A of 1.08.
The Brewers and Giants tied 2-2 Thursday. Milwaukee plays the White Sox this afternoon (March 26th).
