You know what they say, there are 4 seasons in Wisconsin. Football season, winter, still winter, and construction season.
That final season is nearly upon the city of Two Rivers.
We spoke with City Manager Greg Buckley, who said there are a couple of projects on the horizon.
“The first of those is the rebuilding of 24th Street from Forrest Avenue to Jefferson,” he explained. “In fact that project, we expect, will be starting by the 1st of April. We do have a neighborhood preconstruction information meeting on Thursday night (March 25th) at 5:30 PM.”
Buckley said that the project is estimated to cost about $2 million, and will involve the reconstruction of the roadway, and the underground utilities, including the lead water service laterals.
Another two streets will also be undergoing some work, but under the came contract. According to Buckley, that includes, “25th Street for a couple of blocks west of Forrest Avenue, and School Street from 19th to 22nd. That project again is close to $2 million.”
On top of road construction, the City Manager said there will be some work done on some city parks.
“The Rec Department ran some new playground equipment for Nashotah Park past the Advisory Rec Board two weeks ago,” he said. “[We will be] proceeding with that order and doing a phased approach…over the next several years.”
Another major expense will be the proposed replacement of the Fire Department’s ladder truck, which has a price tag of around $2 million. That proposal will be going before the City Council in the near future as well.
