Badgers running back Jalen Berger averaged a solid five-yards-a-carry as a true freshman, rolling up just over 300 yards on the ground.
A columnist for BleacherReport tabs Berger as one of 10 players “set to shock the college football world” in 2021.
Brad Shepard says the graduation of players like Nakia Watson and Garrett Groshek means Berger won’t be sharing the carries as much. He’s also had a year in coach Paul Chryst’s offensive system and quarterback Grahm Mertz should step it up a notch to take some of the pressure off.
Shepard says Berger is poised to be the next great Wisconsin running back if he gets the carries. He averaged 15-a-game last year.
