Milwaukee police arrested a 32-year-old domestic violence suspect early Monday morning at the end of a “tactical situation.”
As police officers were arriving they heard gunshots and saw two children escaping the home at was about 4:00 AM.
The suspect was still holding a 30-year-old woman inside.
After the standoff had lasted several hours, officers entered the home when they heard another gunshot and they came under fire.
Nobody was hit and the Milwaukee man was taken into custody.
The woman was treated for minor injuries.
No names have been released, and police say charges will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.
