Nurses at UnityPoint Health-Meriter in Madison have approved a new contract that gives them higher wages and more vacation time.
The deal ends talk about a possible strike.
S-E-I-U Healthcare Wisconsin – the nurses’ union – announced the tentative agreement Saturday and confirmed the two-year deal Sunday.
Experienced nurses can accrue more than seven weeks of vacation or sick time.
That gives them the time off they said they needed to recover from the stress and long hours of the COVID-19 pandemic.
