Manitowoc County Executive Bob Ziegelbauer says that despite the pandemic, Manitowoc County is in “good shape”.
Ziegelbauer released an Op-Ed letter to Seehafer News, where he praised the work that has been done by both Emergency Services Director Travis Waack and the Manitowoc County Health Department, including the new Health Officer Stephanie Lamber, during the pandemic, pointing to the effectiveness of the vaccine rollout.
The County Executive also spoke about the County’s financials, saying that they have had a pair of great years back-to-back. In 2019 and 2020, the County was reportedly able to generate over $1 million in surplus in the general fund and will continue to save those funds for any unseen future expenses.
As has been his moniker ever since taking office, Ziegelbauer said the County continues to strive to “hold the line on property taxes”, while having low debt, a robust capital program and maintaining facilities, equipment, and County Trunk roads.
He closed out his letter by saying bluntly, “Manitowoc County is in very good financial shape.”
