
MONDAY
– One of three defendants charged in the 2018 death of 7-year-old Ethan Hauschultz of Manitowoc was sentenced Friday in Manitowoc County Circuit Court. Judge Jerilyn Dietz sentenced 38-year-old Tina McKeever-Hauschultz to five years in prison to be followed by five years of extended supervision on each charge of failure to prevent mental harm to a child ad failure to act to prevent great bodily harm to a child. The sentences run concurrent meaning she’ll receive nearly two years credit for time served.
– As the weather continues to become warmer, the City of Manitowoc is beginning to prepare for the annual spring clean-up. According to Dan Koski, the Director of Public Infrastructure, the city will begin picking up brush from properties on the south side of the city the week of April 5th, and will do the same on the north side the week of April 12th. Yard waste will be picked up from south side properties the week of April 19th, and from the north side the week of April 26th.
– Shady Lane has announced that effective immediately they have reopened their doors to all indoor visitations. This comes on the heels of new guidance released by the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services based on the fantastic results seen from the COVID-19 vaccines. – A canine was so excited to see an art gallery in Sturgeon Bay, he ended up crashing into the building. According to reports, a Jeep Grand Cherokee ran into the side of the Fairfireld Building at around 10:45 AM on Saturday (March 13th), and a dog was behind the wheel. No injuries were reported, but the art gallery received minor damage. The dog was reportedly unfazed by the incident.
TUESDAY
-The iconic Roorbach Flowers has been sold. The Heidi Schwoerer family from the Valders/St. Nazianz area will be taking over and changing the name to The Rustic Rose. The outgoing flower shop and greenhouse owner indicated the Schwoerers will continue to use the same phone number, 920-682-6331.
– A 42-year-old Manitowoc man remains in the County Jail facing multiple child sex charges. Court Commissioner Patricia Koppa set bail at $10,000 cash for Darrick D. Bolden for reportedly Engaging in Repeated Acts of Sexual Assault of a Minor and Felony Bail Jumping. His initial appearance is scheduled for March 22nd at 1:30 p.m.
– The fourth-generation owner of Carron Net Company in Two Rivers will be paying special attention to action around the rim at the upcoming NCAA Basketball Tournament. Bill Kiel Junior, company President and CEO is very pleased that his firm will have its’ nets attached to the rims at all 6 tournament sites starting this week in Indiana.
– Bank First has announced that they have reopened all but one of their lobby’s to the public. The sole exception is their Mequon location, which is available by scheduling an appointment in advance. Their buildings will be open from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Friday, with their drive-thru maintaining the normal hours of operation.
WEDNESDAY
– You never truly know who you are talking to when you communicate online. A Columbia County man learned this the hard way, as he was stabbed while going to meet who he thought was a woman he had been talking to online on Monday. The suspect, Juan Pablo Cruz, was arrested. THURSDAY
– St. Patrick’s Day nearly turned deadly in Green Bay. As a man reportedly fled from police last night (March 17th) in the Downtown area. An officer on patrol saw the 21-year-old man driving into oncoming traffic, so he attempted to pull him over. He was eventually stopped, and has been charged with OWI, Possession of Controlled Substances and Fleeing. Click here for more details on the chase.
– The man who was driving the car that killed another man in Green Bay last year will stand trial. 63-year-old John Parnon was reportedly driving his vehicle near the Austin Straubel Airport in Green Bay on October 5th, when he struck Eliot Cooper and fled the scene. Cooper died from his injuries.
-Appleton Police Chief Todd Thomas responded to the rising acts of hate and violence against Asian Americans. In a Facebook post he wrote, “As a community, Asian Americans have been rooted in our community for generations, and they need to know that we all condemn this violence and acts of hate.”
– Manitowoc County’s local representative in the Wisconsin Assembly has announced that a bill he and the Wisconsin Bear Hunters Association collaborated to create has been adopted. Representative Paul Tittl said in response to the bill being passed, “Don’t take the bait that this a bad piece of legislation, and say we could bear-ly get it through, it was unanimous.” Click here for more details on the bill.

– The Two Rivers Police Department has releasing information regarding the release of two convicted sex offenders 68-year-old Mark J. Rickert and 71-year-old James J.
