There is a new Captain of Detectives at the Manitowoc Police Department.
Chief Nick Reimer says Detective Peter McGinty was recently promoted to the position.
“Pete is definitely qualified,” Reimer told Seehafer News. “He’s really a great person-family man and a hard worker. He’ll leave no stone unturned in these investigations to get justice for the victims.”
Reimer selecting a candidate was a “detailed and lengthy” process, which involved the Police and Fire Commission. Chief Reimer explained that they “send out a survey in the Department asking who they think is the best person is for this position. Other factors include performance evaluations over the years and then we come up with who’s the best qualified to do the best job.”
McGinty succeeds Dave Vorpahl who retired Tuesday after 32 years of service.
