Manitowoc’s Park and Recreation Division Manager said this week his agency has some long-range plans underway for parks, as well as new trail projects.
Curt Hall tells Seehafer News, “We’ve been lucky enough to find some significant grant funding to help with this but the mayor and city council made parks a priority. And, when I started in this position it was made very clear that we want to improve our parks and increase recreational opportunities because people pick a place to live and then they find a job.”
Hall referred to trail development at the former Camp Vits and Bayshore Drive. The city’s park and recreation leader said we’ve seen “amazing improvements” happening downtown and really throughout the community.
“Road and street improvements but also parks. It’s a staple of quality of life, it gives people a third place to be. For my family, it’s the parks. We spend our time at the parks, aquatic center, and zoo.”
Hall said those amenities can create a high quality of life for people who pick Manitowoc to work, to live, and to play.
