One of three defendants charged in the 2018 death of 7-year-old Ethan Hauschultz of Manitowoc was sentenced today in Manitowoc County Circuit Court.
Judge Jerilyn Dietz sentenced 38-year-old Tina McKeever-Hauschultz to five years in prison to be followed by five years of extended supervision on each charge of failure to prevent mental harm to a child ad failure to act to prevent great bodily harm to a child.
The sentences run concurrent meaning she’ll receive nearly two years credit for time served. Authorities responded to a call at a local hospital back on April 7th 2018 for an unresponsive child suffering from multiple injuries. The original complaint stated that McKeever-Hauschutz’s husband Timothy Hauschultz instructed her son Damian Hauschultz to make Ethan, a foster child in their Town of Newton home, carry a nearly 45-pound log around their yard.
Damian also allegedly shoveled snow on him, stood on his back, and struck him approximately 100 times as a form of punishment. Ethan was pronounced dead later that evening with the cause(s) of death listed as hypothermia—Multiple blunt force trauma and a broken rib.
Timothy Hauscultz is facing several felony charges including murder and three counts of child abuse as a party to the crime. He remains in the County Jail on a $100,000 cash bond and has a scheduling conference with the District Attorney’s Office on April 19th.
Damian Hauschultz, now 17, is being charged as an adult with first-degree reckless homicide and three counts of felony child abuse and substantial battery. He’s free on bond and has a scheduling conference with the DA’s Office set for April 5th at 11 a.m.
