Marquette came out of the locker room cold and never threatened the Hoyas in a 68-49 loss in the first round of the Big East Conference tournament Wednesday.
It was an ugly end to a season that included major upsets of highly-ranked teams like Wisconsin and Creighton.
The Golden Eagles appeared to be establishing momentum for a late-season push when they won four-of-five games, but Georgetown ended those hopes at Madison Square Garden.
D-J Carton was the only Eagle in double figures with 17 points, six rebounds and a half-dozen assists.
The loss means Marquette finishes the season under the .500 mark at 13-and-14.
Georgetown won its first conference tournament game in five years and will now take on Villanova in the quarter-finals.
