The FORWARD Endowment, the Manitowoc County Trust established to fund projects focused on hunting, fishing, conservation, and related education has awarded just over $9500 to several local organizations.
The awardees include the Manitowoc County Fish and Game for its Pigeon Lake ADA Pier Project, the Woodland Dunes Nature Center in Two Rivers to help promote their Student Conservation Leaders, the Larrabee Sportsman’s Club for their Harpt Lake ADA Fishing Pier Project, Camp TaPaWingo’s Digitial Observation Technology Program, and the Conservation Education Project’s Signage Project.
FORWARD, or Friends of Resources, Wildlife and Recreational Development, was founded by the Manitowoc Unit of the Manitowoc County Fish and Game and is supported by a combination of funding from area sporting clubs, private donations and estate gifts.
The trust has specific parameters that must be met, and all projects must show proof of public benefit.
Chair of the Gift Committee Dean Halverson said “We are thrilled to support great community projects with direct benefits to the area. We are building the fund every year through proper management and community support.”
2020 marked the 26th year of the FORWARD Endowment Gifting Cycle which has provided over $130,000 in grants awarded to projects and groups in Manitowoc County.
