The U-Conn Huskies scored the first nine points of the game – then it got bad.
Connecticut controlled everything Monday night on the way to a 73-39 blowout of Marquette in the Big East Conference Tournament championship game.
The Huskies’ lead was quickly built to 27-6 before the end of the first period.
6′ 2″ sophomore Camryn Taylor actually had a double-double in the loss, scoring 11 points and taking down 13 rebounds.
Marquette had played U-Conn much tougher last week when it lost by 10 in the regular season.
The Golden Eagles will have to wait for an at-large bid to make it into the N-C-A-A tournament. Their 19-and-6 overall record, including 14-and-4 in the Big East, should be good enough, but there are no guarantees.
