Congressman Glen Grothman is calling on the CDC and National Institute of Health to further consider the single-dose COVID-19 vaccination strategy.
This comes after studies show that a single dose of the Pfizer vaccine can be up to 85% effective in protecting against the virus three to four weeks after inoculation.
“The single-dose strategy has clear evidence behind its effectiveness and the CDC and NIH should be more seriously considering it,” Grothman said in a news release. “While it may result in less money for the drug companies, this strategy could be saving more lives.”
The Pfizer vaccine was developed as a two-dose shot and reported an efficacy rate of 95 percent.
