Unlucky bounces and heartbreaking defeats was the story of the weekend for the Manitowoc County Breakers Squirt B hockey team.
According to Coach Matthew Kadow, his team fell in their first state tournament matchup this weekend 3-2 against Ashland in a game that went to double overtime. The game-winning goal was, as Kadow described it, “a goofy deflection off a body.”
The Breakers bounced back though, and dominated the Milwaukee Blaze 4-1, earning a bid for the consolation championship against Dodgeville.
But it was not meant to be, as they ended up loosing to the Ice Wolves, 2-1 in a shootout, earning a 6th place finish.
Kadow said his team had an “absolutely fun experience” and “did it as one unit with their heads high”.
