A group of 50 people has filed suit against the city of Wauwatosa over the way it handled protests last fall.
The suit filed Saturday claims the emergency order for a curfew was unlawful and violated the constitutional rights of protesters.
They were angry when the Milwaukee County District Attorney announced no criminal charges would be filed against officer Joseph Mensah for the fatal shooting of teenager Alvin Cole outside the Mayfair Mall in February 2020.
The suit names the city, the police chief, and the mayor.
