A bill aimed at guaranteeing health insurance coverage for those with pre-existing conditions, authored by a local state senator, has passed in the state Assembly Committee on Insurance.
Senator André Jacque of De Pere along with Rep. Gae Magnafici, said it was important to put these protections into state law, due to uncertainty at the federal level.
“One of the most important things we can do as a legislature is to safeguard the well-being of our constituents,” Sen. Jacque said. “This legislation will help ensure that Wisconsin residents won’t be denied access to life-saving treatments or necessary healthcare just because of their medical history.”
The Pre-Existing Coverage Guarantee Act now heads for a vote in the full Assembly.
