Republicans in the Wisconsin Assembly want to take another shot at passing a resolution to call for a convention of the states.
A public hearing was held on the proposal Wednesday.
The convention would consider making changes to the U-S Constitution.
The Assembly approved the resolution last legislative session, but the idea died in the Senate. Before that, four years ago, the Legislature passed a resolution calling for a convention to consider a balanced budget amendment.
This time supporters want the convention to consider limiting federal government powers and jurisdiction and imposing term limits for members of Congress and other federal officials.
