There is a change in the Manitowoc County COVID-19 report.
It was previously reported that a total of 64 deaths in the County were linked to the virus, but that number has actually dropped by one.
In their update yesterday (March 2nd), the County Health Department stated, “All COVID-19 data continues to be investigated by local and state health departments, even after reporting. This occasionally results in changes to data after it has been reported, as is seen today in the Manitowoc County COVID-19 death count.”
Also of note, there were only 3 new cases added, bringing the pandemic total up to 7,242 confirmed cases.
On the vaccination front, 340 more shots were administered yesterday, with 240 being first doses. This means that 19,719 total shots have been administered, with 13,340 of them being first dose shots.
Nearly 17% of County residents have at least received one dose of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, while nearly 8% have completed their two-shot regimen.
As reported yesterday, the Johnson & Johnson vaccine will be making it’s way into Wisconsin next week, but it is not clear if Manitowoc County will be receiving any of those vials.
In Sheboygan County, there was a swift and sudden drop in the number of new cases.
After several days of relatively high numbers, only one new case was confirmed yesterday, along with 11 new recoveries. This leaves 12,915 total cases and 12,647 recoveries, while 137 cases remain active.
There were also three more deaths included in the report. One of these individuals was between 30 and 39 years old, one was between 70 and 79, and the last person was over the age of 80. This brings their death toll up to 131.
