D-J Carton scored 17 of his team-leading 20 points after halftime as Marquette held off the DePaul Blue Demons Tuesday night 77-71.
The Golden Eagles were playing without senior center Theo John most of the game. He missed all but two minutes with an illness.
It wasn’t a pretty win. The last game of a six-game road trip was close the entire second half.
The victory moved Marquette back to within a game of the .500 mark at 12-13 – with one regular-season game left against Xavier.
The Saturday game against Xavier is Senior Night and National Marquette Day.
