Karl M. Hess
The trial for an Appleton man accused of killing a Manitowoc father and daughter has been rescheduled for the eighth time.
36-year-old Karl Hess now has a three-day trial on the court docket with a June 22nd starting date.
Prosecutors say Hess killed Richard and Jocelyn Miller on September 7th, 2018. He allegedly shot the father twice, then killed the daughter when he found her hiding in a bedroom.
Hess told police he was looking for money he believed Miller was keeping in his home.
Previous trial dates have been changed due to questions about the defendant’s competency, several changes in defense attorneys, the coronavirus pandemic, and Hess’s decision to switch from a bench trial to a jury trial.
