If there was one word to describe the COVID-19 report issued yesterday (March 1st) by the Manitowoc County Health Department, it would be “hopeful”.
There were no new cases of the virus in the report, leaving the pandemic total at 7,239. In fact, over the last three days, only 2 new cases were reported, and they came in on Saturday.
In more good news, the number of people hospitalized for COVID in the Northeast region of hospitals remained stagnant at 32.
On the vaccination front, 155 more vaccines were administered yesterday, with 96 of those being first dose shots. This brings those totals up to 19,379 shots administered, with 13,100 being for the patient’s first dose.
Roughly 16.6% of the County has received at least one shot, while 7.9% has completed their vaccination regimen.
The recently announced Johnson & Johnson vaccine is expected to make its way into Wisconsin sometime next week, but it is not known exactly when, and if Manitowoc County will receive any allotments of it.
Meanwhile, in Sheboygan County, it is a bit of a different story.
The Division of Public Health reported an additional 48 cases yesterday, while 42 patients were listed as recovered. This brings their pandemic totals up to 12,914 confirmed cases, and 12,636 recoveries, leaving 150 active cases.
There were no new deaths reported, leaving that number stagnant at 128.
