
A special 100th anniversary today (March 1st) to the Otto Oas VFW Post 659 in Manitowoc.
Post-member John Jacobs says that the post was named for Otto who was killed in World War I. It was mustered into the National Veterans of Foreign Wars on March 1st, 1921.
Early last month, VFW State Commander Jason Johns and Sate VFW District-8 Commander Patrick Moran, plus their staff, presented a Century Award to members of the local post at the Holiday Inn.
And, two weeks from today on March 15th, Mayor Justin Nickels will present a proclamation to Post 659 at the Common Council meeting at 6:30 PM.
