This group of Mishicot Senior girls began playing together back when they were in the third grade, so winning state was a dream fulfilled.
Indians Senior Maddie Williams termed their accomplishment last night at the La Crosse Center, “Unbelievable.”
“We worked so hard, we were in the gym early in the morning and tried to rent things during Covid last summer. We knew this was our goal and us 5 seniors put everything into basketball, we knew this was going to happen and we wanted it so bad,” says Maddie.
Point guard Kally Krueger on the fact that Mineral Point was able to battle back from a 13-point second half deficit to tie things up, but never grabbed the lead, “It was very important. Obviously, they’re lights out shooting three’s and realized we couldn’t keep up with them so we had to lock down on defense and stay ahead of them each step of the way.”
That gold ball is going to look great in the trophy case at Mishicot high school.
Congratulations Indians!
