A student walkout at Divine Savior Holy Angels High School in Milwaukee was brought on by a video posted online showing two white students using a racial slur.
The students who walked out said they were protesting the school’s failed policies on race.
One student said a lot of the girls at the girls-only school have “normalized” the use of the N-word. Another hoped the Thursday walkout would bring awareness that racially-offensive language won’t be what the school stands for.
Organizers of the protest say their concerns about the policies on race escalated over the summer – but really date back many years.
The school says the girls on the video have been disciplined.
