Lourdes Academy used a 19-oh run in the first half to take command and rolled to a 68-52 win over visiting Manitowoc Lutheran in the semifinals of the WIAA Division-4 Boys Sectional Basketball Tournament.
The Lancers trailed by 20 at halftime, 34-14, but managed to close to within 11 early in the 2nd half 38-27. That’s when Lourdes padded its’ lead with a 12-0 run to put it away and move on to the Elite-8.
Lutheran, which was hurt by 24-turnovers, had one young man in double figures, with Nathaniel Luebke scoring 21 points and hauling down 8-rebounds.
High-scoring Preston Ruedinger poured in 30 to pace the Knights, who’ll take a 22-and-5 record into the Sectional championship game at Sheboygan Lutheran Saturday night.
Seven seniors played their final basketball game in a Lancers’ uniform and saw their very good season end at 16-and-11.
