The Green Bay man who threw a tear gas canister at police during a violent protest last year has been sentenced.
27-year-old Dakota Vandertie was sentenced to 15 days in jail after he pleaded no contest to charges of Obstructing an Officer, Disorderly Conduct, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Vandertie was arrested after he was identified thanks to a video taken during the May 31st protests following the death of George Floyd.
He claimed to be caught up in the action and said he did not intend to throw the canister at the police.
During the protest, multiple businesses and squad cars were damaged and a convenience store was looted.
