Since July of last year, the Manitowoc Police Department has received about 25 reports of catalytic converters being stolen off of vehicles.
The car part is quite valuable, selling for between $25 and $1,000 depending on the type of vehicle it was made for, and is rather easy to remove.
On top of those 25 reports, the Police Department believes that there are even more people who have not reported the theft.
In a Facebook post, the Department asked anyone who had their catalytic converter stolen to report it to the proper law enforcement agency.
