A 51-year-old Manitowoc County grandmother will stand trial for causing the crash that killed her granddaughter.
Monica Walker faces a charge of intoxicated use of a motor vehicle.
9-year-old Tkyia Brewer died in the February 8th crash when the car Walker was driving hit an icy patch on Interstate 43 and rolled. The girl wasn’t wearing a seat belt. Investigators say Walker was drunk.
Walker maintains the fatal accident was caused by her eating a hamburger while she was driving and the icy conditions – not because she had been drinking beer and apple vodka the night before.
