Yesterday, we reported that several Republican leaders in the Wisconsin Legislature had responded to Governor Tony Ever’s budget, calling it unrealistic.
We also reached out to several local leaders in the Democrat Party, including Party Chair Sherrie Francar. She called the budget “bold”, and that it “supports the needs and wants of the people and small businesses that are struggling more than ever.”
Francar pointed to the support given to small businesses including farmers and the ag industry, and aid that the budget “supports property tax relief by getting back to the 2/3rd funding commitment the state had historically provided for public schools.”
A big talking point in the proposed budget was the legalization of marijuana. Francar supports this addition, saying, “70% of Wisconsin supports legalizing marijuana for medicinal and recreational purposes which could add up to $165 million dollars to the economy of this state.”
Francar closed out her reaction by saying “The Evers budget is not only humane for the citizens of this state but addresses the real needs of the people, as well as stimulates the economy which is good for everyone.”
