A North Dakotan homicide suspect has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for causing a double-fatal crash last April.
Twenty-eight-year-old Donald L. Cooper Junior was trying to get away from US Marshals when the high-speed police pursuit ended with the crash he caused by running a red light. Twenty-three-year-old Joseph Badora of Greenfield and 20-year-old Maria Buhler of Sheboygan Falls were killed.
Cooper was convicted of two counts of second-degree reckless homicide. He still faces felony charges in North Dakota over the January 2020 shooting death of a man in Minot.
