One of the most asked questions to the Manitowoc County Health Department is, “When will I be able to receive my COVID 19 vaccine?”
Emergency Services Director Travis Waack lists those who are currently eligible.
“Healthcare workers, Emergency Services Personnel, Police and Firefighters and those 65 and older. We really don’t expect this to change for at least two more weeks to make sure We get as many of those age 65 and better an opportunity to receive a vaccine.”
Waack goes on to state the weekly timetable laid out by the State Department of Health Services, “Friday evenings we find out how many vaccines we’ll receive and post appointments. The shipment comes Monday or Tuesday with a clinic Wednesday thru Friday depending on the vaccine supply on hand.”
Those with underlying health conditions are currently not eligible. Local Health Officials reiterate for everyone to remain patient and that “they are working hard to provide a vaccine for anyone who wants one.” You are asked -if possible- to not to call the County Health Department as they are deluged with phone calls daily.
