Vaccination efforts in Manitowoc County continue to improve.
We spoke with Health Officer Stephanie Lambert, yesterday (February 17th) who gave a full rundown of all the numbers so far.
“The Health Department has administered 3,200 doses of the Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine so far,” she explained. “The County, in general, is making good progress, with 13,559 doses of vaccines given. This means that more than 10,000 people in the County have gotten at least one dose of the vaccine.”
That accounts for just over 12.5% of the population of the County, and roughly 42% of adults over the age of 65.
Lambert said the main limiting factor in the administration of the vaccine is the lack of supply.
“We expect supply to be relatively stable for the next few weeks, but hope it will increase soon,” Lambert said. “If you haven’t yet, I encourage you to visit the Health Department’s website. We have several pages about COVID-19 and the vaccine, including information about how is currently eligible, how to sign up for a clinic, and where else you can get the vaccine in the area.”
The County Health Officer also said they have been receiving lots of calls from people how have signed up to receive notifications, worried that they missed the call or were overlooked. Lambert stressed that supply will eventually catch up with demand, and asked that everyone remain calm.
She said bluntly, “Everyone that wants a vaccine will get a vaccine.”
