A 37-year-old Columbus woman has pleaded not guilty to a charge she tried to hire a hitman on the internet.
Federal prosecutors say Kelly Harper visited a murder-for-hire website on the dark web between October and December last year.
Harper is accused of providing a description of the would-be victim and sharing information about the person’s cell phone number, vehicle, and workplace.
She allegedly paid for the transaction in bitcoin.
Harper entered her plea during a Tuesday appearance in federal court in Madison.
If convicted, she faces a possible sentence of 10 years in prison.
