The Milwaukee Brewers are bringing back a pair of familiar names for spring training in Arizona.
Left-handed starter Brett Anderson has signed a one-year contract worth $2.5 million. That’s about half of what he was making last year, but it does include an additional $1 million in incentives.
Anderson’s career has been marked by multiple injuries, but he’s a solid performer when healthy.
Meanwhile, infielder Travis Shaw has signed a minor-league deal with the team.
Shaw started at third base for Milwaukee in the 2017 and 2018 seasons, hitting 63 home runs, but he slumped badly in 2019 and moved on to Toronto.
Shaw’s deal is worth $1.5 million and it includes incentives worth another $1.5 million. If he doesn’t make the Major League roster he can opt-out.
