
There will be new representation for District Seven in Manitowoc.
Unofficial results pending the canvass of votes later this week show Incumbent Aaron Bailey finished third in a three-way primary against challengers Tim Boldt and Scott Pelot. Boldt and Pelot advance to the Spring General Election with 96 and 55 votes respectively while Bailey garnered 50.
In District Three, Thresa Collins was the top vote-getter with 109 votes. Michael Cummings finished second with 73 votes and Angela Myers was third with 65 votes. Collins and Cummings advance to the Spring General Election on April 6th.
Ten candidates were on the ballot to serve on the Manitowoc Public School Board with the top 8 moving on to the General Election. Kerry Trask tallied 1295 votes to win the primary. Stacy Soeldner was a close second with 1230 votes.
Incumbents Lisa Johnston and Richard Nitsch finished third and fourth with 968 and 833 votes respectively. Collin Braunel finished fifth with 794 votes, Aaron J. Erdman totaled 784 votes followed by Timothy T. Reis (595) and Rhonda Neumann (571).
Michael Gregurich and Riley J. Mayer will not advance.
The top four vote-getters on April 6th will serve on the MPSD Board of Education.
Manitowoc County Clerk Jessica Backus reports that only 7% of eligible voters went to the polls yesterday, which “follows the trend of low turnout for elections in the month of February.” She said the inclement weather and unfamiliarity with the candidates are the likely factors.
