The bad numbers are getting smaller, and the good numbers are getting bigger. That is the overall feel of the COVID-19 updates issued by the Manitowoc County Health Department.
Only 13 new cases were confirmed yesterday (February 16th), while 32 patients recovered. These numbers raise the pandemic totals up to 7,162 confirmed cases, and 6,652 recoveries, while the active case count fell by 19 to 449. That number has been cut nearly in half since the start of February and has declined by 636 points since the first report of 2021.
Also, no news is good news when it comes to the death toll. That number remained stagnant at 61 for the 13th straight day but has increased by 10 since the start of 2021.
The number of people hospitalized for COVID-19 in Northeast Wisconsin also fell yesterday. Four fewer people are occupying hospital beds, leaving that number at 33.
Meanwhile in Sheboygan County, for the first time in quite a while, the Division of Public Health reported more new cases than recoveries yesterday.
32 new cases were confirmed, while 25 more people were listed as recovered. This brings their pandemic totals up to 12,698 cases, and 23,389 recoveries, and leaves the active case count at 184.
There were no new deaths in Sheboygan County either, leaving that number steady at 125.
