David Bakhtiari is still going to get his money, but he’s agreed to restructure the deal to give the Packers some salary-cap maneuvering room.
The N-F-L Network is reporting Bakhtiari’s roster bonus of more than $11 million has been converted to a signing bonus – letting the team spread that money over the four years of the contract agreement.
The left tackle’s cap hit is now a little under $11 million and that frees up more than $8 million for the Packers.
The team isn’t done. It will be approaching more players – almost certainly quarterback Aaron Rodgers – for help.
The team needs to get rid of at least $20 million to get under the projected salary cap for 2021.
