A 42-year-old Manitowoc man is free on a recognizance bond after attempting to hide from officers conducting a probation warrant arrest.
Gerald J. De Jardine is charged with Felony Bail Jumping and Obstructing an Officer.
A Manitowoc Police Department (MTPD) officer located a vehicle illegally parked in the 500 block of Circle Drive Sunday evening. When he knocked on the door of a residence, DeJardine answered denying he knew whose vehicle it was, and shut the door.
The Officer then discovered there was a Felony warrant out for his arrest.
DeJardine refused to come outside on the Officer’s second attempt to talk to him leading him to call for back-up. The suspect’s mother claimed she didn’t know where her son went leading authorities to enter the home and eventually, after hiding in a crawl space, DeJardine surrendered without incident.
The lone condition of Bail is that DeJardine provides photos and prints at MTPD with an initial appearance scheduled for March 22nd at 1:30 PM.
