The Community Development Investment Grant from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation has announced their support of PetSkull Brewing’s expansion.
The WEDC is awarding Manitowoc $250,000 to help turn a century-old historic building at 1015 Buffalo Street into a 10-barrel brewhouse and taproom. Plus, Petskull plans to expand into the restaurant business with a Cajun, Southern, and Creole theme, the first of its kind in the City.
The building is adjacent to the River Point District, a 20- acre blighted former railyard (The CN Peninsula) that Manitowoc is working to redevelop with a mix of residential-commercial and entertainment uses that will be tied to the northside of the Downtown.
PetSkull Brewing Owner Paul Hoffman says “We are extremely grateful for the support from the City and WEDC and are excited to expand to be a destination in both Manitowoc and Northeast Wisconsin.”
Mayor Justin Nickels added “We are excited that PetSkull Brewing will contribute to grow our historic Downtown and expand their part-time business into a full-time brewing operation in The River Point District. We are grateful for the support from the WEDC which contributes to small business expansion in the area.”
The city estimates this project will support 35 to 40 construction jobs and expected to add five full-time and up to 18 part-time jobs once the restaurant is fully operational.
The $1.5 million project is anticipated to be completed by July.
