The Manitowoc Police Department has arrested a woman after she reportedly stole a car.
The victim reported the theft at 7:15 PM and told officers that he had parked the vehicle in front of Auto Werks, located at 1037 South 26th Street, and went inside to get his snowplowing truck. He then said when he came back out, the car was gone.
Less than half an hour later, the vehicle was seen traveling on Calumet Avenue, near South 37th Street. The officer who spotted turned on their lights, but the driver continued driving. The 31-year-old woman eventually stopped in the La Carreta parking lot and was taken into custody.
She told police that she “had a feeling” the car was there and decided to take it. She claims to have no knowledge of the car’s owner and wasn’t going anywhere in particular.
She has been charged with Operating a Vehicle Without the Owner’s Consent.
